I work for an institutional money manager
that subscribes to First Call Research and BondCall Direct, but
we can’t view Merrill Lynch's research. Why?
We are planning to develop a corporate Intranet within the
next year. Can Thomson Financial provide
us with content to personalize our site?
I already have too many vendor systems on my desktop. If
I purchase a First Call product or service, do I have to get
another desktop application?
How many documents are available via
the First Call Research Network?
I work for a global investment management firm with offices
throughout the world. Will First Call
be able to provide customer support to those offices when
the US markets are closed?
We would like to distribute our research, notes and estimates
over the First Call system, but we want to determine who gets
access to our content. Can First Call
provide this information?
I only read research from analysts ranked in the top 20 by
Institutional Investor magazine. Does
First Call have research from all the top 20 firms?
I am mainly concerned with accessing earnings estimate revisions.
Do you offer a product that meets my
needs? If so, how timely is the data?
We manage our Latin American investments
from a satellite office in Mexico City. The only problem we
really have is obtaining comprehensive and timely local research.
Is there anything First Call offers that can help?
I go directly to my broker's Web sites to get my research.
Why do I need First Call?
I recently began using your full-text
research products. Do I still need to retain hard copies of
the research I obtain from First Call Research and BondCall Direct
for SEC auditing purposes?
How many clients does First Call have?
Is there a way I can obtain full-text
research reports from brokers that I am not entitled to see
over First Call Research?
I work for an institutional
money manager that subscribes to First Call Research and BondCall
Direct, but we can’t view Merrill Lynch's research. Why?
First Call’s distribution agreement with our contributing
brokers allows them to control who is entitled to receive
their research. Please contact Merrill Lynch (or any other
contributor) directly to request access to their research.
Once the broker has notified First Call of your entitled status,
you will be able to view their research on First Call Research
and/or BondCall Direct.

We are planning
to develop a corporate Intranet within the next year. Can
Thomson Financial provide us with content to personalize our
site?

intranet sites and other Internet-based solutions, feature
rapid deployment and provide many benefits to institutional
buy and sell-side clients. They enable financial services
firms to manage and use strategic information to increase
investment return, generate sales and build closer relationships
with their customers. They build brand loyalty by serving
as a sales and marketing channel, and they help firms to differentiate
themselves from competing offerings.

I already have too
many vendor systems on my desktop. If I purchase a First Call
product or service, do I have to get another desktop application?
First Call’s products and data are available over more than
50 third-party distributors including most the major financial
information providers. Most likely one of your current vendors
can provide you with First Call’s data over one of your existing
application.

How many documents
are available via the First Call Research Network?
Currently there are over 6,000,000 documents available via
the First Call Network, including full-text equity research
documents, morning meeting and intraday notes, as well as
full-text fixed income reports.

I work for a global
investment management firm with offices throughout the world.
Will First Call be able to provide customer support to those
offices when the US markets are closed?
Absolutely, First Call is committed to providing superior
customer support to our clients worldwide. We have offices
located in London, Dublin, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Sydney, Paris,
Singapore, Frankfurt, Edinburgh, Manila, San Paulo, Toronto,
and many other locations. Click

We would like to
distribute our research, notes and estimates over the First
Call system, but we want to determine who gets access to our
content. Can First Call provide this information?
First Call is the only company that will give your firm full
control over setting and changing your entitlements -- only
you decide which companies are allowed to see your research.
First Call also provides detailed readership reports and statistics,
so you can review and re-evaluate your entitlements on an
ongoing basis, as well as change your entitlements online
via First Call Insight(sm).

I only read research
from analysts ranked in the top 20 by Institutional Investor
magazine. Does First Call have research from all the top 20
firms?
Yes. First Call is the only company that can provide access
to research from all of Institutional Investor’s top
20 firms.

I am mainly concerned
with accessing earnings estimate revisions. Do you offer a
product that meets my needs? If so, how timely is the data?
First Call Quantitative Services has the ideal products to
meet your needs. The Global Real-Time Earnings Estimates Database
is the most timely and accurate source of earnings estimates
and related data. This database will provide you with quarterly
and annual broker-by-broker detailed earnings estimates, consensus
estimates, consensus recommendations, growth rates and much
more. All data is collected electronically from the brokers
and delivered to your desktop in real-time…so you’re always
abreast of the news that moves the markets.

We manage our Latin
American investments from a satellite office in Mexico City.
The only problem we really have is obtaining comprehensive
and timely local research. Is there anything First Call offers
that can help?
We have a few products that can help your firm obtain timely
and comprehensive local research. First Call Research
contains full-text research from over 50 Latin American broker/contributors,
some of it written in Spanish. In addition, many Latin American
brokers distribute their morning meeting and intraday notes
over First Call Notes and contribute their earnings estimates
to First Call. Your Latin American office may also be interested
in a new product -- RD Español, a Web-based Spanish
version of First Call Research, which offers the same
research, but with a local-language user interface. RD Español
is the second non-English version of First Call Research launched
by First Call; RDj, the Japanese-language version of First Call Research was launched in November 1997. RDj now contains more
than 15,000 research documents written in Japanese language.

I go directly to
my broker's Web sites to get my research. Why do I need First
Call?
Your brokers’ Web sites are an effective way of obtaining
broker research if you only use one or two brokers, but when
you do business with many brokers, it becomes a cumbersome
and time consuming process. First Call brings all your entitled
broker research directly to your desktop in a comprehensive
and integrated format, so you can spend your time reading
and analyzing research instead of hunting for the reports.

I recently began
using your full-text research products. Do I still need to
retain hard copies of the research I obtain from First Call Research and BondCall Direct for SEC auditing purposes?
No, we can do that for you. The SEC issued "No Action"
Letters allowing both First Call Research and BondCall Direct
to electronically maintain brokerage research reports for
the institutional community. Because these products store
reports on-line for more than six years, you no longer have
to save hard copy versions of any report you access from BondCall
Direct or FIrst Call Research.

How many clients
does First Call have?
Currently more than 22,500 institutional money managers use
First Call products. In fact, 98% of equity institutions,
as measured by actively managed equity assets, rely on First
Call to stay in touch with the market.

Is there a way
I can obtain full-text research reports from brokers that
I am not entitled to see over First Call Research?
Yes. Now you can access embargoed full-text equity research
on a pay-as-you-go basis via First Call Research. Whether
you access First Call Notes, First Call Research, BondCall Direct
or First Call’s Global Real-Time Earnings Estimates Database
via the Web, you are now able to retrieve embargoed investment
research from over 500 investment banks, brokerages and research
firms. Pay-Per-Doc will be a valuable supplement to your First Call Research subscription, because you can access embargoed equity
research on a pay-as-you-go basis from brokers that you are
not currently entitled to see in real-time on First Call Research.
First Call Notes or First Call’s Real-time Earnings Estimates
Database clients can compliment their subscriptions with full-text
equity research on a pay-as-you-go basis, accessing the full
detail behind the market-moving information and understand
the whole picture.
